Black Box Images

Thanks for stopping in, everyone. I’ve collected some images of the new MW3 map “Black Box” that’s supposed to be released around the 20th. After taking a look at the images, there’s an update to the Clan Ops post below I’m sure everyone will be interested in.

Clan Ops Open

ELiTE has finally opened Clan Ops, DMFD competed last night and snagged a Bronze finish. I have contacted Activision, and iW about two issues; the first – we still haven’t received our clan XP. I’m hearing rumors iW and Beachhead didn’t expect such a “large turnout” and it’s taking more time to distribute the XP. Are you kidding me? The majority of players purchased ELiTE for specifically this reason; clan competition. Beachhead, even when living up to their promises, still fails. Why am I not surprised at all? The second was the final first place team; one member of the squad had over 3,000 captures in three hours? (No, that isn’t a typo – 3,000). The obvious boosting to garner a first place finish has been reported very widely. In fact, I’m hearing well into the Silver level there were documented instances of boosting. I do not expect the variance to allow DMFD to finish any higher (above Bronze), but it may be contributing to the delay in the disbursement of the Clan XP.

I’ll keep you updated here.

UPDATE, MAR 1: It appears Activision/Beachhead have suspended Clan Ops once again. I have read that they underestimated the level of cheating/boosting going on in-game (which is no surprise to anyone that plays any amount of multiplayer, but apparently this is a surprise to the Admins). There is no official word on when the Ops will return, or when we’ll be awarded the XP we earned.

UPDATE, MAR 3: If you look at our Clan page on ELiTE you’ll notice it says we’ve entered into 4 Ops missions. However, disregarding the fact we’ve still not received the CXp from missions now a week old, apparently the other two missions (TDM last Sunday at 7A EST, and Domination scheduled for last night at 9P EST) were “server maintenance” missions and never supposed to be public. I participated in the TDM mission last Sunday, and we will apparently receive no, (yes *NO*) CXp whatsoever as this Op was never supposed to be public despite it being listed in the Program Guide for over 5 days, and despite me earning us Bronze level in the final. As I reported before, the Dom Op scheduled for last night disappeared Thursday morning, and has been cited as the same type of “server maintenance” Op. The CXp that we earned last weekend (750 CXp, possibly 1000 after this lengthy verification process) has now been promised to us by this coming Monday, (5 MAR) I sincerely apologize if I don’t sound hopeful about this new deadline. I’m now reading that Clan Ops will most likely become bi-weekly events as the rooting out of cheaters/boosters takes more time than iW/Activision/Beachhead ever imagined. I honestly expect the Clan Ops to become a monthly event beginning on a Friday night, and finishing on Sunday afternoons PST. Then, approximately 15-20 days later we’ll receive our CXp. I could go on for a minimum of another five paragraphs on how flawed and botched everything regarding MW3 has been, but what’s the point? They have my money, and it’s not like they’re going to fix anything. Thanks for reading, and I’ll forward updates as I track them down.

Congrats, Rookie.

Congrats to Rookie Member Mech for earning his Lone Wolf badge.

Keep it up.

Rumor: Old Maps Coming to MW3

I’m hearing some old maps could reappear in MW3. Some of the names I’m finding are , Favela, Overgrown, and Backlot.

More as I can find it.

Thanks for stopping in.

UPDATE: While not an “old” map, it appears one map “loading screen”, and a wireframe beta version screenshot have been leaked.

Ever Heard of “Lag Compensation”? IW’s Terrible Idea to Level the Field

Lag Compensation sounds like it’d be a good thing, right? Even the playing field and make everyone equal in a game that can be frustrating. However, the problem is the idea penalizes those of us with really good connections. Ever notice some matches you need like 2 hit-markers for kills and others it seems like you’re emptying an entire clip before the bastard in the dark corner dies? The reason for this is MW3′s “lag compensation” (LC). Players with low ping rates (good connections) are slowed down to meet a “lobby average”. Meaning, you could be the best player in the lobby, but after the LC is implemented your entire clip-emptying-spray is still not getting the kill. Why? Because in extreme cases players are slowed down almost an entire second in comparison with players in the room with high ping rates. If you’ve even played MW3 for a minimal amount of time in multiplayer you know without me even explaining, a second is FOREVER. Ever had someone round a corner blasting you and you KNOW there’s no way they could have known you were headed their direction? Chances are you just got killed by a player with a high ping rate that isn’t being slowed down in the game. Until my recent discovery of LC, I was certain there was some hack with unlimited UAV, or something similar. In fact, it’s not. It’s the poor coding in MW3 trying to pander to the lowest skilled players. So, the guy seemingly blasting me before he could of possibly saw me, DID see me on his screen. The problem is, I’m so slow it was 1/2 to a full second later that I saw him and had no time to react.

The problem is certainly frustrating, but becomes worse if you’re host. Host’s machines process the entire game, and are chosen on their ping rate. Low ping rate (fast connection), you’re probably going to be the host. However, the problem of LC becomes exacerbated in this case because now, the LC takes effect, slowing your ping rate, AND your ping rate drops simply because of more information being transmitted across your i’net connection. Effectively making you twice as slow as you were in the last match. Which leads to…

Camping. If it seems there’s more camping in MW3 than any other title, I’d say it’s a fair assessment. Although, now, I can’t really blame people. If you have a high ping rate, your K/D is getting shattered because it takes sometimes 10-11 hit-markers to get kills, and every time you try to throw a flashbang your screen freezes for 2 seconds – camping may seem like the only viable option to continue playing with your pals. So, the next time some douche in a dark corner blasts you with his silencer – don’t get too mad. It’s probably another victim of Infinity Ward’s “lag compensation” just trying to muddle through another match.

Thanks for stopping in.

January 24th, New Maps for MW3

See the trailer here, first with DMFD!

Hearing PSN Elite players are upset that XBOX players STILL get the new content prior to them. Elite may offer discount in the future to those console owners.

Clan Ops

I’m hearing the updated Elite app/website will be rolled out this weekend. Most likely Sunday night into Monday morning. One thing that points this direction is the lack of Lone Wolf (LW) comps after Saturday. The new app/site will NOT have the Clan Ops everyone has been clamoring for, but will instead offer a wider variety of LW Ops in preparation for rolling out the Clan Ops. (i.e. more hardcore game modes. )

Best estimation for Clan Ops release is mid-January.

…anyone else want their money back yet?

I’ll keep you updated as I come across info.

UPDATE: There are comps up for after Saturday now, however only two. I’m guessing there’s probably been some setback to the update.

UPDATE2: Just spotted a HC TDM Ops for the night of the 12th. Make sure to check it out.

CoD: Elite

There’s been a major rift in the group apparently that has went unmentioned, except for a few members choosing to go elsewhere without having 100% of the information available. DMFD is involved in Elite, and will be heavily involved in the future. We have lost members of DMFD because of the feeling our clan isn’t involved enough in the Elite side of CoD. At this juncture, we are as involved as we can be. Beachhead (developers of CoD: Elite) have not rolled out the clan operations wing of the Elite application. The other clans you are seeing with level 5 and above are, and have, received their Clan XP solely from Founder membership (500xp). NO ONE is earning Clan XP, or NOT earning Clan XP because Beachhead has not yet rolled out the Clan Operations package for us to enlist the clan in.

Let me reiterate to be clear: you cannot currently earn Clan XP to level up your clan.

If you are considering jumping into DMFD because we have Clan XP, -OR- you are considering leaving DMFD because we are not earning any NEW Clan XP, I am strongly urging you not to make any move at all. Beachhead has no plans to even begin rolling out the Clan Operations wing of CoD:Elite until January, maybe even mid-January. (see this link: here)

I am extremely disappointed with the past few days events as we try to have open lines of communication with members, and consider each one very good friends. Lack of communication never meets a good end, and compounded with lack of information is typically disastrous for any group. I wish our former members the very best with their new endeavors, and hope in the future they use these events as a lesson to gather all information, and talk with their comrades before making any decisions.

Christmas Contest, and more…

In a flash round kinda way – here’s a bunch of Crew News that needs covered for members; pay attention!

Practice Time – ‘Mortal and I are taking suggestions for “practice time”. Meaning, do we use time on GameNights for “practice” on map tactics, or do we add an additional day weekly where we work specifically on tactics? Please drop us a line on XBL or make sure to mention it the next time we’re online together.

SIGN UP FOR CoD Elite. – Signing up for the basic CoD Elite “stats” package is 100% free and it gives you 2 hours of Double XP time. Also, Matt has set up a DMFD clan page, we’re currently working on the particulars to hook everything, and everyone, up on that new site. Some have asked, and this webpage will not go away, we will continue to use this site as our main “hub” for contact.

Recruitment – I would like to add three more solid players to the mix of DMFD. We can blindly recruit, but as many of you know this usually doesn’t work out. It is best if we can bring in friends, or XBL Friends that we know are solid, and can appreciate our “team atmosphere”. Please, if you know someone who may be interested in running with a professional, fun clan – get them into a GameNight with us. We are very interested in rounding out the squad, and officially closing recruitment. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact ‘Mortal or Boggz.

Christmas Contest – We have accumulated Double XP time ‘Mortal and I can no longer use, and we both have more than one of our friends who does not play CoD giving us their Mountain Dew caps, and 12 pack numbers. So, since we can’t use it, we’ve decided to pass it along to our DMFD brothers through a contest. From now through Christmas, the member who attends the most GameNights will receive ALL the Double XP Mortal and I save up until then. (As of last night, we have already accumulated about 4 hours between us – you could easily be looking as 6 to 8 hours of Double XP as the grand prize.) In the event of a tie, the Double XP will be split evenly. So, there’s 6 GameNights until Christmas – can you be at all of them?

As usual, thanks for stopping in. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions – don’t hesitate to drop me a line, or catch me on XBL. – Boggz

It’s Christmas Time

It’s Christmas, and what are you asking Santa for? DMFD is handing out Double XP time to all members that participate on GameNights, minimum 30 minutes each.

So, make sure you’re good team members, Santa’s watching!

Thanks for stopping in.
